
If you already have Thunderbird installed, click on the Email option from the setup screen. You will need to change some of the settings to match your setup. NOTE: For this tutorial, we will use as our test email account. If you have just installed Thunderbird, opening the application will prompt you to set up an account right away.


Select the entry for your - and click Edit. In the left pane of the Account Settings dialog box, click Outgoing Server (SMTP).This will fail and a message saying "Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account" will display. Thunderbird will attempt to automatically configure your account settings.Enter your name as you want it to appear in the From field in outgoing mail and your email address.At the bottom of the left pane of the Account Settings dialog box, click Account Actions and then click Add Mail Account.

Otherwise, click the hamburger menu in the upper-right and go to Options > Accounts Settings.
